Growing up in rural Japan, Imouri-Chan has only known life working at her family's onsen. Despite the picturesque setting, she has always been left feeling stuck and unfulfilled in her daily routine, longing for something more.

One day, when a girl from New York City comes to stay at the inn, the two strike up a friendship and Imouri-chan becomes fascinated by the girl's stories of life in the big city. Seeing an opportunity for change, Imouri-chan decides to spend her senior year as a foreign exchange student at the girl's high school in New York.

In a place far from familiarity, Imouri-Chan must now navigate life in a foreign country, from adapting to a new culture and making new friends to exploring the city's sights and sounds. Along the way, she'll discover more about herself, her passions, and what it is that she truly wants out of life.
